At Wind Haven Foundation, integrity, accountability, and transparency are core to our mission. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are committed to stewarding our resources responsibly and maintaining the trust of our survivors, supporters, donors, and community partners.
Wind Haven Foundation is a non-sectarian, inclusive nonprofit organization whose roots are faith-informed and survivor-led. While our flagship recovery program blends faith and science in a holistic, trauma-informed approach, participation in any spiritual content is never required, but all are invited. All core services—including housing support, food assistance, and community programs—are open to individuals of any background, with no religious affiliation or belief required. We are committed to equity, dignity, and access for all.
Board Member Compensation
Wind Haven Foundation Board Members serve in a voluntary capacity. No board member receives financial compensation for their governance role. Any proposal for executive staff compensation (e.g., CEO, CFO, COO) must be:
- Approved by the Board of Directors,
- Supported by documented roles and responsibilities,
- Aligned with IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit compliance standard.
Organizational Financial Controls
To prevent conflicts of interest and ensure ethical financial stewardship, Wind Haven maintains the following financial controls:
- Dual Authorization: All financial transactions require approval by at least two authorized officers.
- Grant Compliance: All grant funds are used solely for their intended, board-approved purpose.
- Recordkeeping: All disbursements require documentation, receipts, and board oversight.
- No Self-Dealing: No board or staff member may benefit personally from organizational funds.
Conflict of Interest & Whistleblower Protection
All board and staff members are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest annually and upon arising. We maintain a whistleblower policy that protects any individual who raises concerns about misconduct, fraud, or ethical violations.
Governance Structure
Wind Haven Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors that sets policy and provides fiscal oversight. Operational roles (CEO, CFO, COO) carry out day-to-day management and must adhere to board-approved guidelines. All leadership appointments and separations are handled through documented processes in accordance with nonprofit governance best practices.
Annual Reporting & IRS Filings
As a registered nonprofit, we comply with all IRS requirements, including:
- Annual filing of IRS Form 990,
- Maintenance of public financial disclosures,
- Adherence to federal and state nonprofit laws.
