Wind Haven

How Faith Leads from Broken Pasts to New Beginnings

Wind Haven Wedding
It's a Wind Haven Wedding! Faith transforms lives at Wind Haven, a sanctuary for healing and recovery from abuse and toxic relationships.

In life, God often leads people down paths they wouldn’t have chosen—roads filled with unexpected pain, heartbreak, and brokenness. Yet, through those trials, He also builds something greater. At Wind Haven, faith serves as a foundation for transformation and healing. It helps survivors embrace God’s plan, even when it looks different from what they imagined.

Wind Haven was founded in 2020 at the height of COVID-19, amidst great uncertainty and upheaval. It began in Sarah Grace’s apartment. She and Stacey had been dating for six months. Sarah’s niece, Steph, had just fled her abusive marriage in Texas and had landed at Sarah’s apartment. Their shared experiences of pain and healing sparked a vision: to create a sanctuary for others like them who were seeking hope and recovery. On October 19, 2024, Wind Haven experienced a sacred union when Stacey and Sarah Grace got married. This new chapter symbolizes a deepening bond and shared purpose, adding even more meaning to Wind Haven’s mission.

Wind Haven Wedding

From Broken Paths to Divine Timing

Sarah and Stacey’s pasts were not storybook beginnings. Both came from difficult marriages and endured relationships marked by pain, disappointments, and emotional scars. They had each endured abusive relationships that nearly broke them, but God remained constant, offering a glimmer of hope. Sarah had married and divorced twice. Stacey had also endured two painful marriages, one of which he later discovered was never legally recorded. Although this revelation felt like another painful plot twist, they now see it as God’s hand protecting Stacey. It spared him the burden of needing a legal divorce.

Years of struggle left them hesitant to trust again. Both prayed for love and healing, wondering if they would ever find the one they had prayed for. Then, in God’s timing, Sarah and Stacey’s paths crossed in a Georgia singles group after each had relocated to Georgia—Sarah from Muncie, Indiana, and Stacey from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Their move opened the door for an unexpected, life-changing connection.

Walking in Faith

Healing Together on a Faithful Journey

Their relationship grew slowly, rooted in shared faith and mutual respect. Having rushed into past relationships, both decided to let God lead this time. This intentional approach allowed them to build a foundation based on patience and healing.

As they got to know each other, Sarah and Stacey discovered several coincidences in their lives. Years earlier, they had both lived in Muncie, Indiana, yet their paths hadn’t crossed. In that season, Sarah was 13, and Stacey was 18, fresh out of high school. Now, they see how God’s timing was essential, giving them time to grow individually before bringing them together. They had even lived in the same apartment building at different times.

A Union Blessed by God

Building a Foundation in Faith and Recovery

As Wind Haven took shape, its mission became clear: to provide a faith-based recovery center and sanctuary for abuse survivors. So, with Steph’s assistance and Stacey’s support, Sarah Grace launched Wind Haven as a virtual recovery center, offering survivors relationship advising, support groups, and resources beyond immediate shelter needs. Wind Haven’s recovery center grew into a relationship recovery program, beneficial for survivors of abuse, as well as individuals navigating difficult or toxic relationships.

Together, they dream of expanding Wind Haven into a full recovery center with an emergency shelter, expanding local support options in Houston County. This vision includes a place where survivors can experience long-term recovery and empowerment, rebuilding their lives through compassionate, faith-centered care. Although Wind Haven currently exists primarily online, every step brings them closer to establishing a physical sanctuary for healing and restoration.

Washed by the Water

A Mission Built on Family and Faith

Wind Haven is more than just a ministry; it’s a family. God used each of their stories—Sarah’s, Stacey’s, and Steph’s—to bring them together for a purpose bigger than themselves. Their mission is to help others find healing, to guide survivors through the darkness of abuse and trauma, and to share the same hope God gave them. They understand brokenness but have also experienced the transformative power of God’s grace.

This isn’t just about individual journeys; it’s about a shared mission. Each brings unique faith backgrounds and experiences to serve others, spreading the message of healing through faith.

God Gave Me You

Finding Hope in God’s Perfect Timing

Wind Haven’s message is clear: God is neither late nor careless with dreams or pain. Every setback, heartbreak, and disappointment is part of His plan, shaping people into who they’re meant to be. Sarah and Stacey have each wondered if they’d ever find the right person or purpose, but looking back, they see that God was working behind the scenes all along.

To those currently in a season of waiting or healing, Wind Haven offers a message of encouragement: God has not forgotten you. Past mistakes don’t define the future, and pain isn’t the end of the story. God can transform broken pieces into something beautiful, even when the full picture isn’t clear yet.

Enough Faith to Not Smear Chocolate Icing On Each Other!

A Vision of Hope and Transformation for Wind Haven’s Future

Wind Haven began as a virtual sanctuary, a recovery center rooted in faith, offering domestic violence resources and their virtual relationship recovery center. Sarah, Stacey, and Steph share a dream of expanding Wind Haven into a physical center, offering both emergency shelter and long-term recovery services.

Their vision for Wind Haven is to create a safe, nurturing environment where survivors can access personalized, holistic care to rebuild their lives. With inpatient and outpatient services, this center will help survivors move forward with empowerment, stability, and renewed hope.

Every step Wind Haven takes in faith brings them closer to welcoming survivors in person, offering not only shelter but also a path to healing, recovery, and transformation.

Steph, Sarah Grace, & Our Two Oldest Kiddos

A Prayer for Hope and Healing

Through Wind Haven, Sarah, Stacey, and Steph hope to encourage others to hold on to faith, trust God’s timing, and believe in His healing power. For anyone facing trauma, searching for love, or struggling with life’s challenges, they offer this reminder: God’s grace is sufficient, His timing is perfect, and His love is unending. Together, they are dedicated to sharing this hope with all who come through Wind Haven’s doors and beyond.
